SINSINAWA, Wis.-From Aug. 12 through Sept. 30, the Sinsinawa Mound Art Gallery will present When Palettes Walk and Brushes Talk, featuring oil paintings and prints by artists Nasir and Patricia Shahrivar from Central City, Iowa. The opening reception will be Aug. 17, 1-3 p.m.
Patricia learned about art as a child from her grandmother. She raised her family and then began to focus on her artistic skills again. Patricia paints portraits, florals, and landscapes.
Nasir grew up in Tehran, Iran, where his parents discouraged his artistic interest. He painted in secret making his own dyes as a youth. Nasir studied art and graphic design in the United States and paints nature and architectural landmarks.
The Shahrivars run the Art and Gift Center, Central City, in a restored, former bank building.
