East Coast Group Blue Number Nine to Play at July 18 Dubuque...and All That Jazz!
Dubuque Main Street presents the multi-ethnic East Coast Group Blue Number Nine at the July 18 Dubuque…and All That Jazz!, held from 5- 9:30 p.m. in the Town Clock Plaza, 7th and Main Streets.
Blue Number Nine plays a mix of “funky jazzy rock originals,” said Stefanie Seskin, band leader. She formed the band in New Jersey in 1995. Members of the band hail from Italy, Serbia, Japan, Mexico and the U.S. and play a mixture of funk-soul and blues with flute, guitar, bass, drams, Alto sax and trombone.
The band has extensively toured throughout the Midwest and the east coast. Blue Number Nine has opened for Chicago twice, as well as the Average White Band. This will be the bands’ first appearance in Iowa.
Dubuque…and All That Jazz will also serve delicious food and ice-cold beverages beginning at 5 p.m. Food vendors include: Athenian Grill, Carlos O’Kelly’s, Choo Choo Charlie’s, Cold Stone Creamery, Creola’s, A Little Taste of Philly, Fat Tuesday’s, House of China, Hy-Vee, Ice Harbor Galley, Jan’s Grate Shop, Sugar Ray’s Barbecue, the Town Clock Inn and the West Dubuque Tap. The Dubuque Jaycees will provide the beverages.

Dubuque Main Street will also be selling T-shirts and limited edition prints (created by award-winning artist, Michael Schmalz of Refinery Design Co.) showcasing the 2008 Jazz logo during the event. Dubuque…And All That Jazz! compilation CDs will also be available. The disc features favorite Jazz performers. Music selections will include songs from: Baaro, The Business, C.J. Chenier and the Red-Hot Louisiana Band, Orquesta Alto Maiz, Paul Cebar and Milwaukeeans, Studebaker John, and Three Beers ‘Til Dubuque.
This will also be the first smoke-free Dubuque…and All That Jazz! as required by the new state smoking ban.
