Unity Fest 2008 will showcase talent and diversity in the Quad Cities PDF Print E-mail

Third Annual Quad Cities Community Festival to be held in Davenport’s LeClaire Park Saturday and Sunday, September 27 and 28  

Unity Festival 2008, a multicultural community festival held in LeClaire Park the last weekend in September, will feature dance and musical performances, a puppet show, a youth art exhibition, a bean bag tournament with $900 in prizes, and other games, inflatables and family activities, along with great food and crafts. Saturday evening in the band shell, local favorites; Ellis Kell and The Pena Brothers will perform, along with the festival headliners, Junior Walker’s All-Star Band, playing Motown hits from the 60’s and 70’s.

Reverb moves to Spicoli’s. PDF Print E-mail

Just as a band makes their way from the garage to a bar gig to an arena and makes the climb from an unsigned band to rock stars, the owners of the Reverb are making a transition from the garage to mainstream.  The Reverb, a staple of live music in downtown Cedar Falls, will be moving all assets and energy to their other business, Spicoli’s Rock Garden and Grill, which opened in January  of this year.  The new venue, located at 3555 University Avenue, will expand on the vast amount of local, regional, and national acts of all genres that the Reverb has brought to the cedar valley since 2001 and will add the great specials, spacious seating, and appetizing food brought by Spicoli’s.  This new venture will officially be dubbed Spicoli’s Grill and the Reverb Rock Garden.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Symphony will present In Harmonie, a chamber music concert on Sunday, September 14 at 2:00 p.m. in Davis Hall at the Gallagher-Bluedorn.   Performing on this event will be Music Director Jason Weinberger (on clarinet), WCFSO principal oboe Tom Barry and oboe Heather Armstrong, WCFSO principal clarinet Eric Wachmann, WCFSO bassoon Greg Morton and WCFSO principal horn Dan Malloy, Jr. and horn Valerie Shanley.
